E-FILING

*The Gallatin County 18th Judicial District Court will be accepting documents from the State E-Filing system beginning on February 7, 2023. Per the Court's Order Implementing Electronic Filing Systm, Issued January 30, 2023 - USE OF E-FILING FOR ALL LAWYERS ADMITTED TO PRACTICE IN MONTANA, COURT REPORTERS, AND CASE PARTICIPANTS IS MANDATORY STARTING MARCH 17, 2023.

Please note that only attorneys registered with the Montana State Bar Association will be able to participate in E-Filing. If you are a Pro Se (self-represented) party, please note that the Gallatin County Clerk of District Court will continue to accept documents via email at GallatinDCFilings@mt.gov or in hard copy via mail or hand delivery. If you have questions about your status as an E-Filer, please contact efilingtechsupport@mt.gov or contact our office at 406-582-2165. Approved E-Filers shall use the State E-filing system to file the following case types: Civil (DV), Domestic Relations (DR), Criminal - non extradition (DC), Juvenile (DJ), Involuntary Commitment (DI), Youth in Need of Care (DN), Probate (DP), Guardianship/Conservatorship (DG), Adoption (DA) and Paternity (DF) . Gallatin County District Court is NOT able to accept: Search Warrants (SW), Investigative Subpoena (IS), Statutory Lien (SL), and Criminal Extradition cases via the E-filing system. 

Email Filing
For pro se parties and attorneys filing case types that are not compatible with E-Filing, you may submit documents to be filed with the Clerk of District Court via email at GallatinDCFilings@mt.gov. Please adhere to the following.

If you would like to submit documents to the Court via email, please follow the instructions below to avoid getting a rejected filing.
1. Submit each document as its own PDF titled with your case number followed by the document title. (Example: DV-20-100 - Motion to Continue)
2. Put your case number and case title in the subject line of your email. (Example: DV-20-100 John Doe v. Jane Doe)
3. If you are submitting multiple documents, for example a Motion and a Proposed Order, be sure to attach the documents as their own PDF. 

Failure to do the above may result in a rejected filing.
