Area IV Aging Council

In 1965 Congress enacted the "Older Americans Act" as a response to the challenges a rapidly increasing older population imposed on our country’s systems of health care, retirement, housing, employment, and community services. The Older Americans Act created structures at the federal, State, and local level to administer programs that help our nation’s elderly maintain their health and independence in their homes and communities.

Montana is broken up into ten areas. Broadwater, Gallatin, Jefferson, Lewis & Clark, Meagher and Park County make up Area IV. The Gallatin County representatives for Area IV are the current three County Commissioners and one citizen-appointed member. This board meets quarterly. The board oversees a lot of different aging programs. Meetings consist of representatives from various aging services such as Befrienders, Meals on Wheels, Assisted Transportation, Congregate Meals, Homemaker Services, Elder Abuse Prevention, Help Center (Telecare), the Gallatin County Rest Home and many others!

You can also help the elders in your community by supporting this Board when renewing your license plates. The Montana Treasure's plate is one of the many choices available in the Department of Motor Vehicle.
