Checks can be made out to Gallatin County Motor Vehicle.

If you are not mailing in your renewal reminder card with your check, it can be very helpful for us if you write your license plate number or the last six digits of the VIN on your check's memo line.

Please allow 2+ weeks to process your mail-in renewal. Oftentimes, the majority of renewal checks aren't processed until the last few days of the month. This means you might not receive your tabs until after the first of the following month. Your plate will show up in the State computer system as being renewed as soon as we process your check- law enforcement uses this same system, and will see that your vehicle is current.
