DISABLED VETERAN PLATES

The Disabled Veteran plates function as disability placards allowing the registered vehicle displaying the plates to use disabled parking spots, in addition to recognizing your service.

To apply for a Disabled Veteran plate, you will need to provide a letter from the U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs stating that you are currently rated 100% disabled or are paid at the 100% disabled rate for a service-related disability.

The Purple Heart Disabled Veteran plates also function as disability placards allowing the registered vehicle displaying the plates to use disabled parking spots while also recognizing your service.

To apply for a Purple Heart Disabled Veteran plate, you will need to provide a letter from the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs stating that you are rated 50% or more disabled, and also provide your form DD-214 verifying that you are a recipient of a Purple Heart.

If you qualify for either of these categories, many of the registration fees will be waived. You are only able to use the disabled veteran fee exemption on two vehicles at a time.
