State Spelling Bee      2021 Treasure State Spelling Bee   Testing was completed online

  • On behalf of the Montana Television Network, it is my privilege to announce that Carter Rayburn, a seventh grader at Florence-Carlton School, is the first-place winner of the 2021 Treasure State Spelling Bee! Carter scored 38/40 on the online State Level Test and will represent Montana at the Scripps National Spelling Bee to be held in July in Orlando, Florida. Carter will compete against students from across the United States for $50,000 in college scholarships and other prizes!

The second-place contestant with a score of 33/40, is eighth-grade student Sheila Hamlen of White Sulphur Springs Elementary. Both Sheila and Carter were among the top scorers at the intermediate level, scoring within a few points of each other on the Intermediate (County) Level Test. Clara Harmon, an eighth-grade home school student from Helena, placed third with a score of 32/40. Clara was the winner of the 2019 Treasure State Spelling Bee
