Special Response Team

The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office has teamed up with the Bozeman Police Department to create a specialized team of experienced officers that can respond to crisis situations such as barricaded suspects, hostage situations, sniper situations, barricaded suicidal persons, or any other emergency that may require the activation of the Special Response Team.

Our team trains between 8 and 10 hours a month in preparation for such threats with the primary goal being to help save lives and protect the community. We are able to deploy marksmen observer teams, tactical entry teams, crisis negotiators, and incident command units. With the help of a federal grant, we have recently added a tactical robot that can be deployed for unknown threats such as looking for and determining the legitimacy of explosive devices or searching for suspects without putting our personnel in greater danger.
