Planning Board, County
Understanding the value of thoughtfully planning for future development, and having the desire to improve the health, safety, convenience, and welfare of Gallatin County citizens, the County Commission established this advisory board in 1990 and tasked it with proposing a County Master Plan (Resolution #1990-036). The Board was reformed and ratified in 2011 (Resolution #2011-122) and this seven-member Board currently advises the County Commission on a variety of land-use matters including, but not limited to: subdivision applications, applications to amend existing “Part 2” zoning regulations (created pursuant to MCA 76-2-201 et seq.); establishment of new “Part 2” zoning districts; neighborhood plans; the County’s Growth Policy; the County’s Subdivision Regulations; and infrastructure planning, including wastewater and parks and trails.
The Board's jurisdiction is all of Gallatin County outside of the jurisdictional areas of the existing city-county planning boards for Belgrade and Manhattan; outside the incorporated limits of Bozeman, Three Forks, and West Yellowstone; and outside of all the "Part 1" zoning districts(created pursuant to MCA 76-2-101 et seq.).
Planning Board terms are for two years. Meetings are scheduled the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6 p.m. in the Gallatin County Courthouse Community Room.
