Property Tax Deadlines Approaching in Gallatin County

Deadline

Tax deadlines are coming up.

  • The second half of 2021 real property taxes are due May 31.
  • The first half of 2022 taxes for mobile homes are due May 31.

Payments must be received in the Gallatin County Treasurer's Office by 5 PM that day. By law, postmarks can no longer be accepted.

Taxes become delinquent if not paid by the due date and will draw interest at the rate of 5/6 of 1% per month from the time of delinquency until paid, and a one-time 2% penalty fee will be added.

To make an online payment via debit/credit card or e-check (fees apply), visit itax.gallatin.mt.gov. At that website, you can also access the current status of your property taxes and historical data.

If you are low income, elderly, or a 100% disabled veteran, the surviving spouse of a 100% disabled veteran, or are the owner of a family-owned property for at least 30 years, of a primary residence with land values that are disproportionate to the value of a primary residence and improvements, you may qualify for future tax assistance. Contact the Montana Department of Revenue's Bozeman office at 406-582-3400.

The Gallatin County Treasurer's Office is located on the first floor of the Gallatin County Courthouse at 311 W. Main St. in downtown Bozeman.
