Interconnect Challenge Information

The Interconnect Challenge is an unique opportunity, thanks to funding from MontanaPBS and Blueprint America, Gallatin County Park Commission, Citizens for Balanced Use, GallEP, Mystery Ranch Back Packs, Mountain Communications and many other supporters who have helped put this event together.

The purpose of the project is to investigate our county's pedestrian and recreation facilities through an on-the-ground, collaborative community effort.  The vision of the Interconnect Challenge is to get out of the office to experience and document the challenges faced when dealing with future transportation and recreation needs in Gallatin County.

Along the way the Conservation and Parks Staff, Planning Staff and a number of volunteers helped educate the public about current trail use and collected input that will be used to frame future park and trail policy.

We hope the event will make the upcoming Parks and Trails Plan Update more citizen-based and therefore more easily implemented.
The Interconnect Challenge is just one of many ways Gallatin County is working with Municipalities and user groups to put together a plan that recognizes parks and trails as an asset and as necessary infrastructure to our growing community.
