WELL TEST KITS AVAILABLE
Sample bottles to test your drinking water are available for pick-up from our office for several laboratories in the area.  Staff can assist you in determining what water parameters to test for and help you select a testing package.  The sample bottles are free.  Stop by our office or call 582-3148 for more information.  Private welll owners should have their drinking water tested annually.

E-WASTE RECYCLING
Staples Inc. is expanding its electronics waste recycling program by accepting used computers and monitors that can now be dropped off for a $10 fee at any of the office products chain's 1,400 U.S. locations (including in Montana) during store hours. Any consumer can go to Staples and pay $10 to recycle: any brand computer, laptop, monitor, printer or fax machine. Mice, keyboards and other peripherals are accepted for free. This step by the world's largest office products supplier follows similar initiatives by many computer makers and retailers to confront the growing environmental and public health risk posed by discarded computers and other electronic gadgets containing toxic metals and chemicals.
Office Depot also has a recycling program.  Please call 586-7129 for more information.

GLWQD MISSION
Committed to protect, preserve and improve ground water and surface water quality within the Gallatin Local Water Quality District
In 1991, the Montana Legislature passed a new law giving local governments the authority to form local water quality districts. The Gallatin Local Water Quality District was created by Resolution No. 1995-55 of the Gallatin County Commission, and approved by the Montana Board of Environmental Review in 1997. The focus of the Gallatin Local Water Quality District is on water resources education and water quality monitoring for increased awareness of water-related issues and public health.
