Montana Department of Transportation Proposes Safety Enhancement Project on Roadway Sections in Gallatin County
BOZEMAN - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to update signing and delineation on a variety of roadway sections in Gallatin County.
The project locations are as follows:
Site 1 (Bridger Canyon Road north of Bozeman): Install advanced radar-activated curve warning signs with flashers on both sides of the roadway on each entrance to the curve at reference post (RP) 29.
Site 2 (Penwell Bridge Road northeast of Belgrade): Upgrade all advanced curve signing and chevrons from RP 0.5 to RP 4.5.
Site 3 (Weaver Drive north of Belgrade): Upgrade advanced curve signing and chevrons on two curves from RP 2.8 to RP 3.5.
Site 4 (Cottonwood Road southwest of Bozeman): Upgrade all advanced curve signing and chevrons from RP 2.4 to RP 6.0.
Site 5 (Hyalite Canyon Road south of Bozeman): Corridor-wide delineation from RP 0.00 to RP 9.95.
Proposed work includes upgrading signage and delineation. The purpose of the projects is to address road departure crashes.
The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2019, depending on completion of all project development activities and availability of funding. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.
