Press Release
P U B L I C N O T I C E
The Montana Department of Environmental Quality, Permitting and Compliance Division, Solid Waste Section received a request to modify the designation of a currently licensed solid waste management system based on the system's closure of the Class II unit. The Department has reviewed the request and has determined that a modification of the facility designation is appropriate. The name and address of the licensee is:
City of Bozeman, P.O. Box 1230, Bozeman, MT 59771
The facility is located at 2143 Story Mill Road, Bozeman, Montana, in the SE¼ of Section 30, T1S, R6E, Gallatin County, Montana. The facility is on approximately 7.5 acres of land owned by the City of Bozeman and is currently licensed as a Major Class II Landfill. The Solid Waste Section is proposing to modify the license type from a Major Class II Landfill to a Minor Class IV Landfill. The modification is necessary because the facility is closing the Class II unit and intends to dispose of less than 1,000 tons of Group IV waste per year in the Class IV disposal unit.
The Department does not anticipate any adverse impacts resulting from the change in designation from a Major Class II Landfill to a Minor Class IV Landfill. Therefore, this notice is to inform the public of the proposed action and to seek public participation in the decision-making process. There will be a thirty (30) day comment period from the date of this notice for the public to submit written comments concerning the proposed modification to:
Montana Department of Environmental Quality
Waste and Underground Tank Management Bureau
Solid Waste Section
P.O. Box 200901
Helena, MT 59620-0901
Dated this 2nd day of May 2008.
