Nearly all restraining orders filed in Gallatin County District Court are facilitated through Kathy Coles, a Legal Advocate. Prior to coming to the Clerk of District Court's office located in the Law and Justice Center, please contact Kathy at 582-2038 for assistance. There is no fee to file a restraining order. Once the order is signed by a District Court Judge, it goes into effect temporarily until a hearing can be held to determine if it should be enforced for one year. Both parties are asked to appear at that hearing.
