Introduction
Thank you for visiting this site. On November 4th, 2008, Gallatin County voters approved a $32 million bond issue for the construction a new 160-bed facility.
The proposed Detention Center will be located near the present facility on land owned by Gallatin County (18.9 acres). The total area in the proposed building is 89,448 square feet.
The facility is designed for direct supervision. Besides single and double bunking, there are two dormitories.
Presently, food service for inmate meals is provided by the County's Rest Home. The proposed facility includes a 2,621 square foot kitchen.
The location of the proposed facility will be in the Northeast corner of the site, directly East of the existing detention center. The construction of the facility would be done without removing any existing structures. After construction is completed, the old detention facility would be demolished (recycled as possible).
The purpose of these pages is to provide Gallatin County voters and citizens as much information as possible regarding the construction of the new Gallatin Detention Center. As new information is available about the construction, it will be added to this site.
